If you are a regular visitor to my blog, then you know I have blogged on several occasions about human trafficking. As a mother of two daughters, this really terrifies me (and is why I am very overprotective). In the U.S., 200,000 to 350,000 children are at risk of being trafficked into the sex industry each year. Human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal industry, grossing over $30 million dollars a year. Women and children are at the greatest risk of being trafficked for the purpose of prostitution, strip clubs, pornography, and live sex shows, but no one is immune…no matter the race, gender or class.

And most Americans are oblivious to the fact that THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT HERE IN THE US. It could be happening in your town.

FREEDOM: When you think of FREEDOM what do you think about? FREEDOM of speech…FREEDOM of religion, but we also have the FREEDOM of going to a movie whenever we want, FREEDOM to eat at any restaurant whenever we want…pretty much anything our heart desires (as long as it’s legal). But there are women and children who are kept caged like animals and sold 10 to 15 times per night, 7 days a week, totaling between 9,360 and 14,040 sex acts a year. (This is just ONE child.)

THE HOME FOUNDATION is challenging  you to give up a little piece of  your freedom and donate what you save to THE HOME FOUNDATION to help build restoration homes dedicated to the needs of the sexually exploited women and children.

So what am I giving up?  Well, I thought long and hard about what would make me suffer the most if I had to live without it. And the answer was definitely my daily (sometimes twice a day…okay, sometimes three times a day) Coke Icee.   I know, I know…you think this is nothing, but for me, a Coke Icee is like cocaine to a drug addict…always wondering when will I get my next fix…where can I find money to buy me an Icee…it is an addiction.  Ask anyone who knows me, and they will tell you I can’t do it, but I am very optimistic and determined to NOT have a Coke Icee (or any other flavor) for 31 days, and I will donate what I save to THE HOME FOUNDATION.
