GREECE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
In Europe approximately 20-23% or the population are already working in the sex industry, but are persuaded that they will have better conditions and more freedom in another country. They are deceived by promises of decent employment in another country, e.g. domestic labor, waitressing, etc. These girls may not even be aware that their entry into the destination country is illegal. Despite the promises made, women end up in the sex industry; it is usually part of an economic strategy for increased quality of life, which is particularly ironic for those who are trafficked.
From her home country, she will usually be transported by road through Romania. Although, some victims will travel through Serbia, Montenegro or Croatia to reach Albania, and from Albania will travel by boat to Italy. Other victims will go from Romania, through Bulgaria or Serbia to Greece, where they may stay in Greece’s flourishing sex industry, or later may be moved by boat to Italy. Trafficked victims are moved frequently, both internally and across borders, to evade detection and to further disempower victims by preventing them from forming any sense of community. The final destination for the victim will most likely be a country in the EU, although a significant number of girls will be trafficked to the United States, the Middle East, or the Asia Pacific.
Geography aside, the real final destination is a life of violation, fear and torment: only 1-2 percent of victims are rescued and only 1 in 100,000 Europeans involved in trafficking are actually convicted.

INTERNSHIP POSITION 2: The A21 Campaign needs a six month intern to help assist their office staff. During this internship you will learn what it takes to start and run a restoration program for rescued survivors of sex trafficking. This is a hands on position and will help open doors in the future for someone seeking to commit their life to the restoration work of sex trafficking victims.
