MOLDOVA INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

60% of victims from Eastern Europe come from Moldova.

According to The 2008 Trafficking In Persons Report, Moldova is one of the few third tier countries. They are at the highest level of danger and governmental neglect. Because of the orphan population they are a primarily a source country. Moldovan women and girls are trafficked to Turkey, Greece, Romania, Chech, Republic, Italy, France, Portugal, Austria and other countries.

The orphan population of Molodova is overwhelming. However, the biggest danger comes when they turn 16. All orphans are discharged from their orphanage at the age of 16 with no no family, no social network, and no real experience getting to make decisions for themselves. They become prime targets for traffickers. Teamed up with Justice and Mercy International the Home Foundation provides them with sponsors, Moldovan staff accountability, and instruction in English, computer skills, life skills, and religious and moral education.

The Internship Program to Moldova consists of two crucial arms: prevention and restoration.

PREVENTION:

You will live and work at Grace House, which is a transitional living home for orphans who have grown too old to be cared for by the government. Grace House has in the past been a home for girls however, they are expanding the program to young boys this summer. You will help mentor and care for the children living in Grace House. You will also assist the indigenous staff with job placement, so that the boys/girls do not get involved organized crime (which is responsible for the majority of trafficking). We also hope to begin some microenterprise opportunities to supplement their wage earning capabilities soon.

RESTORATION:

New Beginings is a shelter for victims of sex trafficking. Here you will also teach English and help support the victims as they progress through each step of the deep healing process. It is a long and difficult process, but well worth all of the small steps you will take.

Ingrid Castoni
Nashville, TN

My name is Ingrid Castioni and I am 22 years old. I will be graduating this May with a major in Music Business and a dream to one day plan special events for a non-profit organization that fights human trafficking. Three years ago I went on my first missions trip to Moldova. The children of Moldova lit my heart up in a way no one else has ever done. They taught me more about Christ's love than any other experience in my life. I have gone to Moldova 3 times, and I want to be part of protecting these children from human trafficking in a very hands on way. I am overwhelmingly excited to have the opportunity to spend a summer with these kids and be a vessel for God. Visit Ingrid's BLOG here to read more about her experience in Moldova.

We are excited to announce our first internship of 2009!
Brooke Parks.

I am Brooke Parks and I am 22 years old. My birthday is January 27th. I was born and raised in Ballard, Missouri, and just graduated from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO with a B.S. in Health Promotion and Wellness and I minored in Russian. The Lord gave me a passion for Russian speaking people when I was 19 years old during a mission trip to Belarus. Since then I have been learning the Russian language and continuing to pursue my passion for missions. I traveled to Azerbaijan, Russia, and got to do summer mission through the NAMB with a Russian congregation in Denver, CO. In September I went on a trip to Moldova and I loved it. I loved the people there and the children in the orphanage. I am very excited to do this internship and to be used by the Lord.
